Force India wants to continue with Perez in 2019

Otmar Szafnauer from Force India says they want to continue with Sergio Perez in 2019.

Sergio Perez moved from McLaren to Force India in 2014, and in the first year he managed to have a podium in Bahrain.

The Mexican driver, who won the podium in Baku and Russia in 2016 and the Monaco Grand Prix in 2015, is now the most scored in 2016 and 2017 after six of the three teams in the front three.

This year, Force India started under season expectations and only three Estonian Ocon points could be scored in the remaining three races.

Perez's contract, which has yet to meet points, is filling up at the end of the season and is a curiosity about what the Mexican driver will do.

Operations Director Szafnauer from Force India says they want to continue for another year with the 28-year-old pilot.

"I hope he will stay on the team longer because he is a great pilot, he is a cool and good person, he gives us so much value, we give it to him.

Szafnauer asked, "We are one of the best!" In the last two years there are not many teams in the world, only three teams passed by us at the end of the championship.

"If Sergio wanted to leave us for one of these three teams, what would we do? I guess we wanted the best for him, we would not have prevented him." said.

Szafnauer reiterated his confidence in Perez for this year.

"I expect to do better than last year, Sergio is a real fighter, one of the best Mexican drivers of all time, and I think he will have a good season this year."

"The podium seems to be a perfect target this year, but I do not know how far we are at this point, but I can say our luck is the same as last year, last year we actually had some moments we could do but we did not do a good job."
