Lewis Hamilton said he was aiming to be strong in the race on Sunday, before the Chinese Grand Prix.
Lewis Hamilton finished fourth in the qualifying rounds after Bahrain, half a second behind leader Sebastian Vettel.
The Englishman is now 17 points behind the championship, and if Vettel wins the race today, he will have a serious advantage in the first three races.
Speaking ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix, the British pilot said he was aiming to defeat Ferrari, who reached the finish line in the first two races and finished the pole series in Mercedes in China since 2012.
"There is a big group on the big side, as in China, they are all enthusiastic and full of energy, some really supportive, but not so many of the Lewis supporters!"
"I hear people say that this year will be Ferrari's year, but I want to prove that this thinking is wrong." said.
Vettel is waiting for a long race.
"It's going to be a long and difficult race, and we are the first row, but Mercedes and Red Bull are going to be so fast, so we do not have to take our opponents on a weekly basis."
