Toro Rosso pilot Pierre Gasly thinks the Italian team has similar performance to Williams and Force India.
The Toro Rosso pilots completed the Australian Grand Prix qualifying in the 16th and 20th, passing Hartley Sauber pilots as well as Sergey Sirotkin from Williams and missed to stay in the q2 with a slight difference.
In the race, while Gasly was still out of the race with MGU-H in the first part, Hartley hurt his tire after blocking the first corner and had to make an early pit stop.
As a result, Hartley finished the race last among 15 pilots, while Toro Rosso left Australia empty-handed.
Pierre Gasly thinks they are very close to Force India and Williams with his first Toro Rosso powered Honda engine.
"STR13 has a really great potential, and we have prepared an important development program for the season and I think we will make a big progress during the season."
"We are now fighting with Williams and Force India, and we can not say that there is a huge difference between them."
"We may have made a worse start compared to last year, but I think others have made good progress."
"We looked a little better on the tests in Australia, I think we need to see what it is, but as I said, there's a lot of potential in the car."
"It would be nice if we could finish the race, but sometimes it can be, we have to look Bahrain and focus on the positive moments of the weekend."
"Both me and the team will learn a lot from it, together we will be stronger in Bahrain."
