HALO IN F1
IN THE EARLY 2016 FIA INTRODUCED A COCKPIT PROTECTION SYSTEM CALLED THE "HALO". FROM THAT DAY ON THERE WAS A HUGE DISCUSSION IN THE PADDOCK ABOUT WHETHER IT SHOULD BE USED OR NOT.
HOW DOES A HALO LOOK LIKE?
BASICALLY HALO LOOKS LIKE A TITANIUM FLIP-FLOP INSERTED ON TOP OF THE COCKPIT OF A FORMULA 1 CAR.
VISIBILITY OF THE HALO
VISIBIlıty of the drıvers when they are usıng the halo was a bıg topıc to talk about AT THE TIME THAT THEY INTRODUCED THE HALO.
ACTUALLY DRIVERS WERE QUITE SUPRISED BY THE VISIBILITY WHEN THEY WERE DRIVING.
SEBASTIAN VETTEL: We are happy to have a system that will help save our lives, we can not take back the time, but it would be ignorant and stupid to ignore it even if it was something that helped us in some scenarios." said.
FERNANDO ALONSO: "I support it, I'm positive about Halo, and if extra protection can save a life, I think it's worth it."
MAX VERSTAPPEN: “There needs to be a certain element of risk,” . “You can improve the car but we don’t need this thing on top of it. It’s not just the looks, I don’t think it is necessary.
OTHER OPINIONS ON HALO:
ALTERNATIVES OF HALO
AEROSCREEN WAS DEVELOPED BY RED BULL AS AN ALTERNATIVE OF THE "UGLY" HALO ACCORDING TO THE FANS,TEAM MEMBERS,DRIVERS IT WAS LOOKING BETTER THAN HALO.
AEROSCREEN WAS TESTED IN ONE OF THE PRACTICE SESSIONS IN RUSSIAN GRAND PRIX HOWEVER FIA CHOOSE HALO INSTEAD OF IT WITH THE REASON OF NOT TESTED ENOUGH.
