Double Formula 1 world champion Fernando Alonso managed to do 113 laps in his first LMP1 test with Toyota in Bahrain.

The Spanish pilot came on the track during the FIA World Endurance Championship rookie test and took 37 two-hour sessions in the morning and the fastest lap was 1: 43.709.

Alonso, who did76 laps in the three-hour session after the afternoon, succeeded in lowering his fastest rating to 1: 43.013 with the # 8 Toyota.

Pascal Vasselon, technical boss of Toyota Motorsport GmbH, said Alonso did not perform any sort of simulation during the day.

"Driving with a low fuel load, or not getting the best of what we have already done, will not be a reward if we do the fastest tour today."

Alonso says he has a great day with Toyota.

"It's a great day, I think a test done with the LMP1 is a good thing for every pilot because it's incredible to drive an ace."

"The positive thing was that the vehicles were pretty stable, I want to drive this car for a long time and I am happy to have accomplished it today."

The Spanish pilot does not deny the possibility of joining Toyota and Le Mans 24 Hours.

"It would be nice to race here one day, but I do not know when, but one of the things I want to do after F1 is endurance races."

On the other hand, the fastest name of the rookie test was Pietro Fittipaldi, the grandson of Emerson Fittipaldi with 1: 42.275.
